What Are Lab-Grown Gemstones?

Lab-grown gemstones are real gemstones. They are not simulants, imitations, or substitutes. They possess the exact same crystal structure, chemical composition, hardness, refractive index, and optical properties as their mined counterparts. The only difference? They are created above ground, in a controlled laboratory environment, rather than extracted from deep within the earth.

HPHT Method

High Pressure, High Temperature replicates the natural conditions deep within the Earth's mantle. A tiny diamond seed is placed in carbon and exposed to temperatures around 1,500°C and pressures of 1.5 million pounds per square inch.

CVD Method

Chemical Vapour Deposition grows diamonds atom by atom in a vacuum chamber. A thin diamond slice is exposed to carbon-rich gas at around 800°C, causing carbon atoms to settle and crystallise into flawless layers.
